Itinerary
This is a typical itinerary for this product
Stop At: Cappadocia, Cappadocia
Beginning with a famous landmark in the region, three conical rock formations known as the Three Beauties, this tour offers an itinerary a little different from many others available as it includes the town of Urgup, traditionally the tourist centre of the region; a small trek through Rose Valley where the different forms of rocks and fairy chimneys take on a pink-coloured hue and Cavusin village, once inhabited by Greeks and home to the 5th century church of St John.
Urgup was a bishopric of the rock-cut churches and monasteries found in the villages, towns and valleys in the area and has become the centre for one of the largest wine-growing regions in Turkey as well as producing traditional handmade carpets.
Following a tasty, local lunch the tour moves on to Rose Valley which is one of the best valleys in the area for hiking (4km) where you can see fascinationg rock formations and fairy chimneys as well as beautiful countryside.
The trek finishes in Cavusin village where you will visit the oldest church in the area dating back to the 5th century AD. Known as the Church of St John, it has a single nave plan with three apses and the interior has elaborate mouldings, arches and columns.
