Itinerary
This morning tour is a medium level trek beginning from Uchisar and passing through Pigeon valley to the small town of Goreme.
Your guide will meet you at your hotel and take you to the starting point in Uchisar where a 60m high rock-castle mountain dominates the skyline. From here you will walk approximately 4km through Pigeon Valley, named after the hundreds of pigeon houses which are carved into the soft tufa stone cliffs. For centuries pigeons were kept in the area and their droppings used as fertiliser for the vineyards which are planted all over the region.
During the way, you will also see the many species of flora and fauna endemic to Goreme National Park. About halfway along the trek, there will be a rest stop in a local tea garden where you can enjoy the black tea served in small tulip-shaped glasses everywhere in Turkey and then continue on our way to Goreme.
At the end of this memorable trek, you will be driven back to your hotel for a well-earned rest.
