Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Dalaman

Pass By: Dalaman, Dalaman, Mugla Province, Turkish Aegean Coast
Private airport transfer to your hotel in Fethiye. This takes approx 45 mins. If you have time left in the day then you can explore Fethiye. You will stay in the town and there are many shops and restaurants nearby.

Day 2: Hike from Fethiye to Kayakoy

Pass By: Fethiye, Muğla, Turkey
Today you will hike on The Lycian Way from Fethiye to Kayakoy. The route follows an ancient cobbled path taking over the hillside and down into the beautiful Kayakoy Valley. The walk takes 3 to 4 hours. You will stay overnight in Kayakoy.

Stop At: Kayakoy, Kayakoy, Mugla Province, Turkish Aegean Coast
Kayakoy is worth exploring, the old Greek town on the hillside has inspired books and films and Kayakoy itself is a lovely village with lots of charm. The short hike gives you time to see the village in the afternoon. The old town’s population of 6,500 Greek inhabitants were forced to leave the region in 1918. If you wish to explore the ruins there is a small entrance fee of 20 Turkish Lira. It takes approx one hour to explore the churches and houses.
There is also the option to do more hiking; a 2 hour hike down to Olu Deniz Lagoon where you can swim if you wish. From Oludeniz you can get on a local bus or take a taxi (approx. 15 mins) back to your accommodation in Kayakoy.

Day 3: Kayakoy to Ovacik

Stop At: Ovacik, Ovacik, Oludeniz, Mugla Province, Turkish Aegean Coast
We can transfer you to the official start of the route at Ovacik or you can walk from Kayakoy. The destination is Faralya a pretty village overlooking Butterfly valley. From Ovacik it is 4 to 5 hours walk, from Kayakoy 6 to 7 hours. There are places en route to grab some refreshments.

Day 4: Faralya to Alinca, via Kabak

Stop At: Faralya, Faralya, Uzunyurt, Mugla Province, Turkish Aegean Coast
The walk from Faralya to Kabak. Today you will walk to the pretty seaside village of Kabak with its many wooden bungalows and pretty beach, where you can swim. Then begin a steady climb to the tiny Hamlet of Alinca nestling on the mountainside with wonderful views. Approx. 6 hours total walking time. Overnight Alinca.

Day 5: Alinca to Bel via Gey

Stop At: Alınca, 26563 Tepebaşı/Eskişehir, Turkey
Alinca to Bel via Gey, today’s walk is between 5 and 6 hours, you will walk down the mountainside and across a valley to the small village of Gey before walking around the hillside close to the sea to Bel. We will pick you up at Bel and transfer you to Karadere. (20 mins) overnight Karadere.

Day 6: Option to walk

Stop At: Çavdır, Burdur, Turkey
Option to walk, we transfer you to Cavdir to walk to Uzumlu – 5-6 hours, following an ancient aqueduct along hillside and into two valleys. Or if you prefer we can take you to visit a couple of local ancient sites, Letoon and Xanthos.
Letoon was one of the most important religious centres in the region. Archaeological finds at the site date back to the late sixth century BC. Ruins include temples and Amphitheatre. Allow one hour to explore Letoon. Entrance fee is 15 Turkish Lira.
Xanthos is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Letoon. Xanthos was the largest city in Lycia. The ruins include an amphitheatre, tombs, monuments and churches. The Nereid Monument and Tomb of Payava, are now in the British Museum. The Harpy Tomb is still located in the ruins of the city.
Allow two hours to explore Xanthos. There is a small entrance fee of 20 Turkish Lira.
Overnight Karadere or Uzumlu.
Duration: 6 hours

Stop At: Letoon, Village of Kumluova, Fethiye 48300 Turkey
Letoon was one of the most important religious centers in the region. Archaeological finds at the site date back to the late sixth century BC. Ruins include temples and Amphitheatre. Allow one hour to explore Letoon. The entrance fee is 15 Turkish Lira.
Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Xanthos Antik Kenti, Kalkan 07970 Turkey
Xanthos is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site together with Letoon. Xanthos was the largest city in Lycia. The ruins include an amphitheatre, tombs, monuments and churches. The Nereid Monument and Tomb of Payava, are now in the British Museum. The Harpy Tomb is still located in the ruins of the city.
Allow two hours to explore Xanthos. There is a small entrance fee of 20 Turkish Lira.

Day 7: Private transfer to Delikemer walk to Patara

Stop At: Patara, Patara, Turkish Mediterranean Coast
Private transfer to Delikemer walk to Patara, choice of routes, inland route is approx. 4 hours and the coastal route 6 hours. You will end at Patara ruins and beach.
Patara ruins are perhaps the most spectacular of the holiday. Patara was an ancient port and is situated on the mouth of an estuary. You will explore the ancient lighthouse, amphitheatre, meeting house, Baths, temple gate and aquaduct. Patara was the birthplace of St. Nicholas (Father Christmas) in 270 AD. Allow 2 hours to explore the site thoroughly. Admission fee is 20 Turkish Lira. Overnight Patara.
Duration: 4 hours
