The Museum of the Ancient Orient is one of the main three units of Istanbul Archeology Museums. The other units are in the same location as the Istanbul Archeological Museum and the Tiled Kiosk. In the Museum of the Ancient Orient there are exhibited unique collections of works belonging to the pre-Greek eras of Anatolia and Mesopotamia, and the pre-Islamic eras of Egypt and the Arabian Peninsula. Most of these artifacts were unearthed in archaeological excavations that started at the end of the 19th century and lasted until the First World War, and were brought to Istanbul, the capital of the Ottoman Empire, which was the ruler of these countries at that time. The exhibitions in the museum are Pre-Islamic Arabian, Egyptian, Mesopotamian, Anatolian, Urartian Artifacts and Cuneiform Documents such as the Stele of the Akkadian King Naramsi, the Treaty of Kadesh, the Ishtar Gate, the Tablet Archive, which contains 75,000 cuneiform documents.

Tiled Kiosk is a mansion dating from 1472, located within the outer walls of Topkapı Palace. It was built by Ottoman sultan II. Mehmed as a summer palace or mansion. It is also called Sırça (Glass) Mansion or Sırça (Glass) Palace. In terms of its construction date, the oldest building in the Istanbul Archeology Museums complex is the Tiled Kiosk.
Between 1875 and 1891, it served as the Hümayun Museum (Imperial Museum). In 1939 the building was transferred to the Topkapı Palace museum in 1939 and lost its museum function. On the occasion of the 500th anniversary of the conquest of Istanbul, in 1953, it was organized as a museum again under the name of “Conqueror Museum”, where works such as clothes, weapons and edicts belonging to Fatih Sultan Mehmed were exhibited. Same year, had the name “The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts”. The Tiled Kiosk, which joined the Istanbul Archeology Museums in 1981, was reopened to visits in 1992.
