Stop At: Sirince, Sirince, Izmir Province, Turkish Aegean Coast

Şirince is a lovely village with lovely history, great views, lovely food, entertainment and so many more. Perhaps the perfect synthesis between a Turkish traditional village and a Greek traditional village. Actually, the village, the name of which in Turkish really means “sweet,” used to be known as “Cirkince,” which means “ugly,” an ironic impression on the beauty of the village and also used to prevent others. As people knew that the town’s site and architecture were really spectacular, in 1926 they changed their name into Sirince.

The village of Sirince in Izmir is very attractive and famous for its homemade wines and its traditional architecture. It is a small village in the mountains and it is perfect for seeing natural Turkey. All through the village are shops where you can put your wine tasting skills to the test. If you find yourself on the Aegean coast of Turkey then be sure to take a visit to Sirince.
