Starting with Simit and Turkish tea. Simit is a freshly baked, molasses-dipped, and sesame-crusted dough.
By tram to Gülhane Park, discovering Gülhane Park by walk and continuing to the historical Post Office in Sirkeci.
Eating Raw Meatbals: Çiğ Köfte. It is traditionally and usually served as an appetizer or meze. Enjoying the Pomegranate Juice, which gives you energy for the rest of the day.
We start by tasting unique spices in the Spice Market; then walk to Eminönü for Balık – ekmek: Fish and Bread, which is served on a traditional Turkish boat.
alık – ekmek: Fish and Bread, which is served on a traditional Turkish boat.
Passing the historical Galata Bridge by walk and taking the second oldest Metro to Taksim.
Tasting the traditional Turkish coffee next to Galata Tower. It’sroasted and ground coffee is boiled with sugar, and then served with the grounds which are allowed to settle at the bottom of your cup. This method allows the preservation of the full flavor.
Turkish coffee is a communal drink. After coffee walking to the famous Istiklal Street and eating Stuffed Mussels: Midye served with lemon. The vendor will crack one open for you. Squeeze on a bit of lemon and use the shell to scoop out all the street gourmet goodness.
After that we will enjoy the delicious Fried Mussels: Midye Tava spooned on a thick smear of tarator, made with dried bread crumbs, walnuts, lemon juice, salt, pepper, herbs, and tahini. It’s served skewered onto a shish. The same unlicensed street mussels of unknown provenance, coated in flour (and sometimes egg yolk and beer), then deep-fried in a vat of sizzling oil; these are another very popular snack available at any time of day.
